WONDER WOMAN [3-D]

Here are Five Fun Facts about Gal Gadot, the actress who plays Wonder Woman:
1. Gal Gadot served as a combat instructor for two years in the Israel Defense Forces.
2. Gal Gadot, as Miss Israel, represented her country in the 2004 Miss Universe pageant.
3. Gal Gadot performed all her own stunts as Gisele in Fast & Furious #6.
4. Gal Gadot is the third actress and first non-American to play Wonder Woman, following Cathy Lee Crosby and Lynda Carter.
5. Gal Gadot added 17 pounds of muscle for her role as Wonder Woman by practicing kung fu, kickboxing, sword fighting, and jujitsu.

Gal Gadot carries Wonder Woman. Yes, Chris Pine, as Steve Trevor (an American spy helping British Intelligence), is a perfect foil for Gadot’s superhero character. Pine’s plane crashes near the island of the Amazons and Wonder Woman saves him. Pine is the first man Wonder Woman has ever seen. Plenty of humor ensues. The scenes of World War I battle fields suggest the horrors of war. Despite all the pyrotechnics of war, it’s the beauty of Gal Gadot that keeps our eyes glued to the Big Screen. I can’t wait to see Gal Gadot in the Justice League movie in November. GRADE: A-

I am not big on superhero movies but this is better than most considering I never liked Wonder Woman as a kid.I didn’t op for 3D. My only quibble would be it was probably about 10 minutes too long and the bad guys are kind of meh, Michael Keaton was scarier in The Founder. Does Ewen Bremner always have horrible haircuts? This and Trainspotting 2. The trailer for Bladerunner 2 looked promising. So 3 comic books were turned into decent films this year Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Wonder Women. Logan is my favorite of the 3.

Steve, I agree with your analysis. BLADE RUNNER 2 looks intriguing. The WALL STREET JOURNAL says 13 comic book/superhero movies will be released in 2017. That might be too many.

I haven’t seen the FAST AND FURIOUS film but I will bet anything you like that the stunts item is sheer PS puffery – from an insurance standpoint it would be utterly absurd and foolhardy. Off to see this movie tonight, all being well with my Israeli friend

Saw the preview for the new Spider-Man. Didn’t look promising. The actor playing Peter Parker looks about 12.

Steve, in the original comic book, Peter Parker was a high school student. I think MARVEL is taking Spiderman back to its roots.

This looks very good to me. I remember liking wonder woman, but never really noticed there weren’t many female superheros. I really only read a few superman comics, less batman and others. My favorites were the archie comics, and Brenda Starr. I had a subscription to Brenda and Archie comics for about a year

WW was quite a bit of fun! Good action and humor combo. And the rush across No Mans Land was amazing!
