XyliMelts

Since the beginning of 2021, I found myself waking up at night with a dry mouth. At first, I thought my dry mouth was caused by our furnace running during the night because of the cold temperatures. But when milder weather arrived in March, my dry mouth problem persisted. Fortunately, I had my bi-annual dentist appoint in mid-March and I asked my dentist what I should do.

He recommended XyliMelts and gave me some free samples. I tried the XyliMelts tablets and they banished my dry mouth at night and made my mouth feel normal again. I questioned my dentist on the cause of my dry mouth problem. He said, “Dry mouth can be caused by the aging process and by medications you might be taking. Or both.”

My healthcare provider, Independent Health, “encouraged” (by saying they wouldn’t pay anymore) me to change from Invokana to JARDIANCE. My dry mouth problem started around the time I started taking JARDIANCE, but I don’t have enough evidence to prove JARDIANCE is the culprit. No matter, the XyliMelts solved my dry mouth problem. If you have a dry mouth problem like I did, XyliMelts might help you, too.

Well, that’s one way to keep your streak unbroken!

Thanks for the advice, but I don’t have a dry mouth problem!

I keep a container of Biotene Dry Mouth spray on my bedside table because I sometimes wake up with my mouth feeling like sandpaper. I think the culprit is one of the two blood pressure medications I take—or I’m just getting old. Anyway, a spritz or two of Biotene and I feel normal again!

Todd, I hydrate all day long because of JARDIANCE and other meds I take. But I don’t experience dry mouth until the middle of the night.

I also have this problem and have used Biotene for years, and it works pretty well. I’d never heard of XyliMelts, but I’ll give them a try.

Michael, when I first used XyliMelts, I only used one. Later, when I read the instructions that came with the samples from the dentist, I realized I was supposed to use TWO at a time. Two XyliMelts work a lot better than one XyliMelt.

Never heard of it either. Sometimes I do wake up with that dry mouth feeling. I have my own revolutionary solution: I drink a couple of small cups of water,

    😉

I think Deb, as usual, has the answer. It’s an age thing. I still remember when we moved to this building over 30 years ago. There were a lot of older and, yes, old people living here then. One day I held the door open for this woman who gave me a piece of advice: “Don’t get old.”

That ship has sailed, I’m afraid, though every time I read an article about an “elderly” person attacked and that person is 65, I scream, “65 is NOT elderly!”

    And stay off my lawn!

Jeff, at one time a sip of water would take care of my dry mouth. But, since 2021 started I’ve had persistent dry mouth at night and water wasn’t solving the problem. XyliMelts work for me.

I wish I’d known that years ago. I was taking something for my post nasal drip and it made my mouth so dry it was painful.

I do sometimes wake up thirsty, but I keep a bottle of water at the back of my bathroom sink for night time pit stops. I have a bottle with a flip lid after dropping the lid off the screw off bottles

Rick, this dry mouth problem just came about recently. I suspect the change from INVOKANA to JARDIANCE but I can’t prove it. Congratulations on your second shots!

    George, don’t you use a CPAP-machine?
    Does it have a humidifier?
CPAP can also cause a dry mouth – my machine makes me produce spittle and when I wake up at night I drink some water from a plastic bottle (half liter) on my bedstand.
I don’t like the humidifiers, they need extra care …
