I took Diane to dinner at the Webster Bistro, our local restaurant that specializes in French cuisine. It was Diane’s Birthday so I wanted her to enjoy something special. Diane ordered the Mixed Green salad and the Chicken Cordon Bleu. I ordered the Chicken and Corn soup and the New York Strip Steak with rice. For dessert, Diane and I decided to share the restaurant’s signature dessert: the 17-Layer Chocolate Cake. Delicious cake alternating with scintillating Ganache topped with creamy frosting!

Yes, it was as yummy as it looks! What’s your favorite dessert?

George, did you count the calories? 😉

I’m not really a sweet guy, prefer salty stuff – though “Black Forest Cake” and Black Forest Icecream are among my weaknesses – that were some of the first things I showed to my Hungarian wife and she also likes them, so we often have a portion together.

And I like to combine the ice cream (or yogurt Greek style if I try to eat healthy ) with fresh fruit and fruit from my “Rum Pot”.

Our garden had many raspberries this year, now we’re eating apricits straight from the trees and blackberries …
Fruit from your own garden simply is the best! Soon we’ll be having grapes too – we planted most of them to give us some shade on our terrace.

Wolf, Black Forest cake is one of my wife’s favorites too. I remember having it on our trip to Vienna 40 years ago, along with Sacher torte (somewhat disappointing) and some truly excellent ice cream.

If we’re at a restaurant that has creme brûlée on the menu, that’s always my go-to dessert. However, not long ago I had an incredible coconut cake at a restaurant called Dakota in Covington. It was so rich, I couldn’t finish it (and, for me, that’s saying something).

Nice! That looks really good. I know chocolate lover Jackie would love it.

My #1 would still be chocolate cream pie with whipped cream, though there are many other things I love, like Junior’s carrot cake cheesecake.

    Happy Birthday, Diane!

Jackie doesn’t like cream pie (except chocolate, of course), but both of those sound good to me.

Rick, Jackie likes cherry, which I don’t, and apple, which I do. I like peach and strawberry rhubarb, but have never had peach rhubarb.

Somehow, after hearing AUOS ( (NOTE: Trump is sometimes referred to as POTUS for President Of The U.S. but I think AOUS fits better. the A stands for whatever you think it does.) rave about his chocolate cake, I’ve lost my taste for the stuff.

    Happy late BD, Diane

My least favorite dessert is pie, though I do like cream or meringue pies.

I love cake and brownies, especially tres leches cake, but ice cream is my fav. Sea Salt Caramel, or choc mint are easy choices for me.

A belated Happy Birthday to Diane!

Most of the time I just skip dessert since I’m too full from dinner. I’m a Baby Boomer member of the Clean Plate club.

Beth, thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes! Diane enjoyed her Birthday despite the three inches of rain that fell in a few hours.

George, a belated Happy Birthday to Diane! That chocolate cake looks delicious — and it’s a big one too. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth though I prefer caramel custard and fruit salad topped with jelly, and on occasion have any one of India’s traditional cream-rich sweetmeats called mithai-barfi.
