NEW ORANGE VANILLA COCA COLA

Maybe it’s the COKE commercials for their new Orange Vanilla Coca Cola…or maybe it was the really low price for this new product at TARGET that lured me into buying and tasting it. Not bad, not great. Just okay. Do you have a favorite carbonated drink?

Rick, in this case you’re right. But without the cheap price, I wouldn’t have sampled NEW ORANGE VANILLA Coca Cola.

Yuck! I saw the ad on television. Between this and the return of the disastrous “New Coke” you have to wonder who their intended audience is.

    It isn’t me.

Jeff, COKE is always trying to find the next great popular drink. They’re bringing back the old “NEW COKE” in connection with STRANGER THINGS.

I’m reminded of something Bill Maher said about Diet Chocolate Cherry Dr. Pepper: “I think we can all agree there’s too f*cking much going on here.”

When a company already has the best tasting and best selling soft drink in the world, why do they keep coming up with godawful stuff like this? I know the answer is money, but you’d think all these new atrocities would just steal market share from the original. And I’ve heard about the impending return of New Coke, brought on by “Stranger Things” induced Eighties nostalgia. But it won’t taste any better today than it did in 1985. And don’t get me started on Diet Coke, the nastiest tasting thing that millions of people are addicted to.

Michael, COKE–like a lot of companies–aren’t just satisfied with huge profits. They want MORE! So the search for the next new thing continues.

Jeff, tell Jackie I bought (and tasted) the diet version of NEW ORANGE VANILLA Coca Cola with zero sugar and zero calories. I think COKE was going for a creamsicle ice cream flavor.

Because I am diabetic I drink diet coke or pepsi depending on sale prices. My favorite tho is diet Mt. Dew which has less aftertaste than the colas. Diet cherry pepsi isn’t bad also.

    Carbonated drinks?
OK, beer or “Schorle” – that’s wine and sparkling water.
If no alcohol then just sparkling water – very common in most of Europe.
Drinking any kind of coke? Only over my dead body! 🙂
I remember from more than 60 years ago:
We children were invited into a café and some relative offered us children drinks. Everybody asked for coca cola so me too.
But after the first sip I exclaimed:
This tastes more horrible than medicine! And never ever drank coke again – only on holidays in Spain with a nice shot of rum …
I remember from the 70s on one of the Canary Islands:
My wife and I each ordered a Cuba Libre – a small bottle of coke divides in two glasses – filled up with Caribbean rum and some ice, not too much (unlike the USA).
And the rum was cheaper than the coke!

    A bit OT:
Our other favourite on the Canary Islands was Lumumba – a mixture of rum and sweet milk with chocolate …
You had to be very careful there – it was too easy to get drunk on that.
    Even more OT:
The owner of my favourite bar in my German hometown decided some years ago to no longer offer any drinks from the Coca Cola company – for political and price reasons!

    PS:
Afaik alle these sweet drinks contain HFCS instead of sugar – horrible! It makes you kind of dependent …

Wolf, many people in America are addicted to Diet Coke. Some people say it’s just the caffeine, but I suspect there are more elements at work.

I’m in the market for something that doesn’t contain caffeine, sugar, or aspartame and still satisfy me! No luck yet! Chrystal Lite is okay, but boring! Some things taste okay but are too pricey! I may end up with water, and not the kind that you buy in bottles!

Diet birch beer (Pennsylvania Dutch brand is nearly a monopoly in the mid-Atlantic), Polar diet cream soda (Dr. Brown’s when there’s some around), Diet root beer (usually A&W), diet Dr. Pepper, Coke Zero, Pepsi One, and Polar Diet Orange and particularly Diet Grapefruit among sodas, along with a mix of Polar and other seltzers, and Polar’s caffeinated diet lemonade soda…and diet Monsters on occasion, particularly the orange flavor. Occasionally Polar diet grape soda. Diet Canada Dry products are often good, though the green tea/ginger ale diet seems to have disappeared around here.

I also wish the diet Jamaican ice tea (basically carbonated Arnold Palmer tea/lemonade mix) was still available, but it seems to have disappeared as well…never did see it after moving away from the DC area.
