STARBUCKS TRUE NORTH BLONDE COFFEE

When Diane and I visited Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada last week, I stopped into a Starbucks and what I saw shocked me! I’m a fan of the Starbucks Blonde coffees–Veranda, Blonde Espresso, Bright Sky blend, and Blonde Roast Plus–but this Canadian Starbucks offered a Starbucks Blonde coffee I didn’t know existed: Starbucks True North Blonde!

I immediately ordered a cup. Yum! Subtle flavors with delicate nuances of soft cocoa and lightly toasted nuts danced on my tongue. This is just the thing to make your day brighter! According to Starbucks advertising: “Roasting this blend of specially chosen Latin American beans for a shorter time allows the delicate nuances of soft cocoa and lightly toasted nuts to blossom. As enticing as the natural beauty of majestic Canada, this blend is dedicated to a country that’s been part of the Starbucks story since 1987. Mellow and easy-drinking.” I agree! Now I’ll have to make more trips to Canada! Do you have a favorite coffee? GRADE: A

I’m not so sure about the coffee – but I envy you for visiting Niagara-on-the-Lake!
I may have told about this already, but the memories are just too sweet, so have to do it again:
When visiting the frozen Niagara Falls (Canadian side) we took a trip along the Niagara river to Niagara-on-the-Lake and then back through the vineyards.
We were so astonished, hadn’t thought of course that grapes would grow there – and my wife immediately also identified plantations with peach trees.t
Of course we did a wine tasting at a Schwab winery too …
    Re the coffee:
My wife also has her special brand here in Hungary, not cheap but really good – while I would drink anyhing as long as there is enough caffeine in it …

Wolf, as I may have mentioned, the Canadian wineries near Niagara-on-the-Lake specialize in ice wines which are very tasty…but pricey.

Nah, no special favorite. Jackie would disagree with you because she always goes for the dark blends at Starbucks. Italian is her favorite. There are a few she doesn’t like, in which case she will “settle” for the medium Pike Place, which is my choice at Starbucks. Currently, at home, we are using a combination of half Starbucks Dark French Roast and half Eight O’Clock Coffee Colombian. For a long time we were using Kirkland (Costco’s brand), then went to Community Coffee from New Orleans.

Jackie was surprised when she discovered that the Blonde coffees have the most caffeine and the dark blends the least.

Rick, my main complaint with STARBUCKS is that they drop brands of coffee regularly. My favorite Starbucks Blonde coffee was WILLOW. They don’t make it anymore. I remember seeing Gold Coast from time to time in our local STARBUCKS store, but that’s gone now, too.

I’ve never been to Starbucks – only found their coffee a few times in hotel rooms. But I wasn’t really impressed.

Wolf, there are a lot of STARBUCKS addicts in the U.S. When I last visited Seattle, it seemed like there was a STARBUCKS on every corner!

Inquiring minds – well, Jackie – want to know if you brought any home with you. Is it only sold North of the Border? They don’t have it here.

Jeff, tell Jackie that I did buy a bag of STARBUCKS TRUE NORTH since the cup I sampled at Niagara-on-the-Lake tasted pretty good. Diane and I are going back to Niagara-on-the-Lake in November to see HOLIDAY INN, a play based on the movie. I’m sure I’ll buy another bag of STARBUCKS TRUE NORTH while I’m there. Has Jackie tried the new STARBUCKS PLUS Blonde coffee? Double the caffeine!
